The music has been exceptional tonight. Thre haven't been any bands that I had to see, so I've seen many. We went from Elbow to the Kills to Mumford and Sons to the Swell Season. Where else can you see that grouping of bands but here in Indio?

Spent some time in the tents this afternoon. We saw a band called Glasser. They were pretty cool, with an atmospheric vibe. The drummer dressed like the character Robert Downey Jr. played in the movie "Weird Science." That character was kind of a jerk, but I'm guessing the drummer was being ironic. He's probably a really nice guy.
We also watched most of Jenny and Johnny's set. They played some fun songs, some of which had a country & western twang. I liked that Jenny and Johnny each played multiple instruments. She played guitar, bass, keyboard and drums during the seven or eight songs we watched.
There were a few people singing along to the songs, but it's possible many folks were in the tents because they provided some shade. It's a hot one today. Can't wait until the sun goes down and Arcade Fire takes the stage.
4:20 p.m. Saturday
Our "Eye on the Desert" Producer Carolyn Moloscho learned the awesomely artistic recycling bins pictured below are going to be given to Desert Mirage High School to help teach them about sustainability.
Some of the students from Desert Mirage and Coachella Valley high schools put on their own music and arts festival recently. They called it "The Hue." Coachella promoter Goldenovoice helped them out. We hear it was a great success. "The Hue" organizers wanted to create a festival for all the East Valley kids who can't afford to experience Coachella. "The Hue" was a free event
There is so much more to the Coachella experience than just music. There is a large sustainable element to the festival. People pedal bicycles to create energy in one spot. Behind one of the DJ areas, there are two large hamster wheels that people can walk in to power the area. Amazing art installations and interesting characters are everywhere you look.
